Mapping a new future: Taking measurments for wastewater pipes Los Molinos Community President Jose Palacios explains what an engineer and his surveying team are doing to a local man as they take measurements for wastewater pipes. Los Molinos lacks access to sanitation facilities -- most residents defecate in the open field. As part of an Integrated Household Sanitation Project with Water and Sanitation Volunteer Tasha, they will build bathrooms. They have already built improved cookstoves, which improve respiratory health and reduce fuel consumption, planted 60 trees, and started using the municipal trash collection service instead of burning their trash. Each houshold has been trained on Handwashing; Home Water Treatment and Storage; Deforrestation; Solid Waste Management, Recycling and Composting; and Routes of Contamination.
