EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy visits Peace Corps
On August 31, 2016 the Administrator for the Environmental Protections Agency, Gina McCarthy visited Peace Corps as part of the Loret Miller-Ruppe Speaking Series. Peace Corps Director Carrie Hessler-Radelet greeted the Administrator and led the discussion. At the end of the event both the Director and the Administrator signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Under the new understanding, the two agencies intend to encourage, broaden, and strengthen institutional ties through seven areas of potential cooperation: Environmental Awareness; Community Assistance; Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening; Environmental Health; Materials and Tools Development; Noncompetitive Appointment of Present and Former Peace Corps Personnel; and Strategic Sustainability Performance Planning.
