This is a picture of a hallway in the very old (85 years) base school in Armenia. It was taken on July 7, 2013. This school serves a big part of the village, a farming community located in southern Gegharkunik Marz. The school is falling apart and in desperate need of renovation. Everywhere, there are holes in the walls and the ceiling, but they are all deftly covered with various drawings and posters. The school has an amazing soul, and you can feel it when you enter it. There is a fund raising effort underway for the renovation, but it is unlikely to be successful, and the school may well succumb to the ravages of old age.
