Burkina Faso

The women of the Gulmance ethnic group in Burkina Faso proudly showcase their traditional wares for International Women's Day. This holiday, held annually on March 8th, highlights the achievements and contributions of women. The women in the village of Tambaga sell their mats, baskets, and other items in order to raise money and support their own families and organizations. The Burkinabe hold a generally positive sentiment towards Americans, as can be seen by the special guest appearance by President Barack Obama.
