Burkina Faso

World AIDS Day Wall and HIV Transmission Avoidance Presentation While in Burkina Faso working on a World AIDS Day project, I painted a wall, taught proper condom usage, and had middle school students promise to live healthy lifestyles by putting their hand prints on the wall. Part of the promise that the middle school students made included teaching their community how to avoid transmission of HIV and other STIs, protect themselves against transmission, and promising to live amicably with seropositive folks. As follow-up to that event, I've continued playing teaching games with my girls soccer team that help them teach about HIV and other sexually transmitted infections to others in the community including the condom demonstration that each of my players proved they knew how to explain to others using a wooden phallus and locally bought condoms. The photo was taken on May 16th, 2012 in my village at the soccer field where from there the girls went to the adjacent police station to demonstrate to the police officers as a team proper condom usage.
