I took this photo in March, 2014, with a group of highly motivated ninth grade students. In my English conversation club, these girls each wrote a paragraph describing important places in our community of Afro-Colombian fishing town. I recorded their voices, and we filmed and photographed the tour together. We made a video, highlighting the culture of La Boquilla and my students' desire to learn. This photo portrays my students' energy and the importance of the beach. My students understand the importance of English language skills in order to acquire more opportunities, seeing more and more tourists sprawled on the beach everyday. These girls are the future female leaders of La Boquilla.
