Lesotho
This photo was taken inside a classroom at Mashai Primary School, in the remote mountains of Lesotho. It's estimated that 23% of the population of Lesotho is infected with HIV/AIDS. At Mashai Primary School 1/3 of the students are orphans. Primary education is free in Lesotho, and most students leave school at 5th grade to marry, farm or herd animals. It's my hope that more opportunities arise for free secondary education and university. Education is such a crucial part of embracing an AIDS-free generation.
