HIV Prayer Flags I worked with HIV support groups in the Mashai River Valley in Lesotho to make "prayer flags" for HIV/AIDS. We went around to remote schools in the mountainous district of Thaba Tseka to ask students and teachers to create messages of hope about HIV/AIDS on pieces of fabric. In Lesotho, about 1/4 of the population is infected with HIV/AIDS, so every student, villager has been impacted by the virus in some way. With the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS I was pleasantly surprised with the overwhelming positive response, emotion and reaction that villagers, teachers and students put into each message on these "prayer flags."
