Niger
I took this photo at the Peace Corps Volunteer Leader's compound in Niger. PCVs came to this house for assistance with village projects, to use a communal computer, and call the Peace Corps office headquarters, about 3 days away by bush taxi, to discuss grant projects. The woman in the photo is the PCVL's guardian's wife. She was in the process of giving her son a bucket bath. This is a very common way to bath small children in Niger. This little boy always had a serious look on his face as he studied everything around him with intensity. PCVs loved to pick him up and hold him when they passed by the house.
