Niger
Transporting PCV to new village site I took this photo during my 3rd year in the Peace Corps when I moved out of my village and got promoted to a Peace Corps Volunteer Leader. I was in charge of about 30 volunteers assigned to villages in Niger. I was a resource for them to get projects done, grant writing, morale support, transportation when necessary, etc. In this photo, we have the Peace Corps Toyota truck loaded up to take a new volunteer to her village. All her belongings are piled in the truck. We bring extra mattresses to stay with her for a night in her village to help her get settled and be a support to her. It was always an exciting time to bring a volunteer to her new village and guide her through the process, meet with the village Chief, and celebrate new beginnings.
