RPCV Bio -- Currently self-employed, offering guided tours to the region of Peru where I served, through Encounter Peru (www.encounterperu.net). My wife and I felt we won the Peace Corps lottery when we arrived in our site, high in the Peruvian Andes. I found time every day to give thanks for being in such a beautiful place, with welcoming people and a fascinating culture. Pictured is Carmen, who spoke primarily Quechua, very little Spanish. She was a knitter and weaver of the highest quality, living in Chivay, in the Colca valley, in the region of Arequipa, and I am bedecked with her products, made from local alpaca fiber.
