My time in Rwanda as a PCV has had a significant impact on my life. Working as a Community Health Volunteer, I established a health club at the public secondary school where students would come to ask health related questions, lead lessons, and gain valuable life-skills. Even though my primary work was in community health, I thoroughly enjoyed focusing my time with youth and facilitating at camps and clubs—teaching dance lessons was always fun. Personally, my best Peace Corps experiences have come from the relationships I’ve built, particularly with young people in my village, because they have truly transformed me into a better human being. I still communicate with many of them even today.
