Peace Corps volunteer, Sally Hoagland, 24, teaches at a new secondary school which just opened this year on the island of Malaita. The sponser of the program is the Ministry of Education and Cultiral Affairs. sally teaches basic home economics, which includes cooking, sewing and sanitation. She also teaches how to build a water resevoir, ovens, stoves using local materials and scrap metal. The school emphasizes teaching simple technology, which the students can use when they return to their home villages. A 1975 graduate from Union College with a degree in home Economics, Sally taught for one year in India and six months in the States before joining the Peace Corps. Her hometown is Denver, Colorado.
