I took this photo Summer 2013 shortly after cutting off all my hair. This was a big change for me and incredibly liberating because it is so hot on St.Lucia and near unbearable as a new volunteer before your body acclimatizes. My host mom and I drove up to the top of a peak on the southern part of the island, near the town of Vieux Fort. On the top of this hill is a famous lighthouse and it was such a special moment for both of us. We could see everything for miles, even neighboring islands. No one, in my service, has been more important to me then my host mom Olympia Joseph. And this was one of the many moments, that I will never forget. There is no doubt in my mind, we will be close, for the rest of my life.
