Barbara Jue
A retired human resources executive for Fortune 500 companies, Barbara is lending her expertise to a nongovernmental agency in Moldova that focuses on developing women-owned small businesses in the country’s second-largest city. Her work includes developing and presenting workshops on human resources management for entrepreneurs—a still-developing concept in the post-Soviet country. Barbara is also developing a business English course for the NGO’s beneficiaries. As secondary projects, she has started an English conversation club and assisting on the Diamond Challenge business plan competition in Moldova.Barbara has aspired to serve with the Peace Corps since she was a teenage in the 1960s and was drawn to President John F. Kennedy’s vision. She also had a family member who volunteered in India in the 1960s and was inspired by his stories. After retirement, she wanted to use her knowledge and experience in business to help others in a developing country to evolve their economy. She has volunteered in the U.S. and wanted to get international on-site experience, learning and living the life of a local as much as she could.
