Niger

Village Wedding Celebration in Niger (women dance) I took this photo during my first year as a PCV in Niger, West Africa in 1994. The photo shows young village ladies lining up to dance for a wedding celebration. Women put on their most colorful outfits and fanciest head scarfs for the special occasion. They line up to dance back and forth, side to side in unison to the beat of drumming played by musicians. Younger girls are put in the front row while older girls are put behind them in the back row. Villagers surround the dancers to cheer, clap and be entertained. Like anywhere in the world, weddings being community together and leave happy memories behind.
