Epilepsy is a big issue in the South West region of Cameroon, but stockouts on effective anti-seizure medications are frequent at the area health centers, and those with epilepsy are frequently stigmatized and accused of witchcraft. In partnership with Host Country National Counterpart Kenneth from the Community Development and Epilepsy Foundation (CODEF) of Cameroon (pictured at left), Peace Corps Volunteers in this Subdivision have formed an epilepsy support groups where patients and their families can learn more about epilepsy, nutrition and general wellbeing, and income generating activities. In addition, the project works to make medication available for all and collects survey data to report to the Cameroonian government's Ministry of Health.
