Volunteer Photos Carnaval! This photo was taken on February 16th, 2012 in Faja de Baixo,São Nicolau in Cape Verde, Africa. I like this photo because so many of the subjects are looking at the camera. This photo was taken in the small farming community of Faja de Baixo. The Cape Verdeans are in the road because they were having a parade to celebrate Carnaval. Carnaval is celebrated in Cape Verde in the same manner as Mardi Gras is celebrated in New Orleans. The girl in the green costume, is the queen of the carnaval and was also a student in my community English class.
