In East Java a selamatan is one form of celebrating and thanksgiving. Typically a space is cleared, mats are rolled out and attendees sit on the ground lining the perimeter of the room to eat and pray together. During one such event at my home, a little girl snapped a few photos of me, so I reciprocated and took a few of her. Camera phones are popular in East Java, and it's possible that I've been snapped up in hundreds of photos during my two years here as a foreigner. Photo taken: September 2011
