My host mother owns a salon where she does make up and coordinates the outfits for many weddings, cultural celebrations and other special events in our village. One night at home early in my service my host sisters suggested we all dress up and take photos. We all chose outfits from her closet full of traditional clothing, set the camera on a self-timer and ran to our places to get a snapshot altogether. This is still one of my favorite memories because it reminded me no matter what culture you grow up in, you're never too old to be silly and play dress up.
