These photos were taken in the Republic of Kiribati between 2000 and 2002. One of the first most interesting things I saw which captured my attention during training was the concept of village unity. Everyone in Kiribati seemed to know everyone else on the island, and everyone seemingly helped everyone out. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and in Kiribati it takes a village to put a roof on a house... or a flatbed truck!
