This picture was taken in Feremuna, a small village in the Sikasso region of Mali between Segou and Koutiala. It was taken at the end of a training on advanced cloth dying techniques for the village women's cooperative. The training took place over the course of ten days, I think in the spring time (possibly May?) of 2009. The picture is of Hawa (left), the trainer, and Safiyatou (right), one of the women in the cooperative. For the SPA Results category of the SPA 30th anniversary.
