The after school program “Arts Alive” developed at a steady pace and was a wonderful program for both the school and the community as it ignited the children’s imagination while also instilling a love of the arts. The performance of "Teen Angel" in the summer of 2012 was a huge success. But that didn't diminish the last project, "The Voices of Christmas," another first ever event. The Christmas chorus, which included nineteen students and five teachers, was well received by both the support of Peace Corps, and also the local dignitaries of the village. I was happy to be part of such a positive change in both the school and the community. School for me, beyond academics, is a time for children to explore all the opportunities that are available to them – whether that be finding a future career or simply adding to their happiness and overall well being. I viewed the school day classes and the after school programs as a whole, in the hopes of serving every student in the school.
