This photo was taken during a girls-empowerment conference (REDES) in Chimoio, Mozambique sometime in July of 2011. One of my female students is demonstrating to other girls in her group how to correctly use a female condom, something that she'd learn a month before during a small get-together in our village. She was proud of the fact that she'd learn something other girls did not know but that was key in maintaining safe sexual practices.
