The photo was a spur of the moment idea that quickly bloomed into a school wide effort. The Ministry of Education in Georgia held a health-related photo contest on Facebook, with different schools submitting their own photos. They asked me if I had any ideas, and I mentioned an AIDS ribbon in passing. Within two days, our civics teacher had motivated the entire school to wear red and organized the students in the ribbon seen in the photo. Though fiercely competitive, we placed third in all of Georgia, and second among the regional schools. It was amazing to see how enthusiastic and motivated the school population was.
