During my third year extension with Special Olympics Africa I focused on promoting inclusion and tolerance between youth with and without disabilities. I brought general education high school students to local special schools where the students both with and without disabilities were able to work together. Majority of the general education high school students had never spent time with people with disabilities so it was an eye opening experience for the youth to see how much they all have in common with each other. Many shared the same interests, wanted the same acceptance, and had the same dreams for the future. The leadership clubs quickly coined the phrase, "Focus on ability and our commonality, not the disability and differences.
