Gambia
Taken on November 10, 2013, this picture shows the reaction of this baby girl, as my bush dog Knightly, age 15 months, tries to give her a kiss. Every time I traveled from the village, the baby, and her mother, and my dog escorted me to the "bus stop" and waited until I managed to catch a ride. The picture represents a convergence of love - the act of Knightly kissing the delightfully grossed out baby, the act of walking 1 mile to the bus stop, the act of waiting for my safe departure, the act of caring for my dog when I am away. It was often in these little moments that I was reminded how deeply my host sister cared for me.
