Gambia
This photo was taken at the beginning of my service. I am currently working with Parks and Wildlife and Ministry of Forestry of the Gambia but at this time of the photo I wanted to reach out to the local high school to get them interested in working with me so I went out to see what they needed. They had told me that they wanted some garden training and seedlings so my wife (Jamie Marin, Health Volunteer who took the photo) and I got seeds together and held a week long project of fence building, bed demarcation, double digging and nursery sowing. This picture was taken when we had just finished double digging and amending the the soil. This shot I was handing seeds to students to help sow our first nursery together. The kids where so excited because my LCF had come with the Peace Corps Land Cruiser so people where really excited to come and learn. We had held the training both in English and in Mandinka so everyone could understand. This was a great day in my service!
