This photo was taken at an annual Peace Corp Togo camp (camp espoir, or 'hope' in English). This camp occurs every year and for children and youth in every region of the country who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. The camp gives the kids an opportunity to spend a week having fun, learning about HIV/AIDS and health, participating in fun and educational team building and self-esteem activities and a chance to just be themselves and not deal with stigma and discrimination. This particular photo is of myself and one of the girls I was in charge of. I particularly feel in love with this tiny, shy little girl who had been infected at birth. By the end of the camp she was the most talkative, funny little girl around! This was activity an educational activity about HIV and stigma.
