Kyrgyzstan

4 volunteers and 1 local from all corners of Kyrgyzstan came together to circumnavigate by bicycle Kyrgyzstan's pride and joy, Lake Issyk-Kul, in the 1st annual Ride Alive initiative to promote healthy lifestyles. Over the course of 10 days in June 2014 and 462 kilometers, 5 riders stopped in 5 communities and conducted 1-day trainings in schools, and non-profit organizations for youth aged 10-18 living around Lake Issyk-Kul. Topics included drug and alcohol education, disease prevention, healthy eating, exercise and fitness, stress-reduction and general wellness. Riders teamed up with local health and education professionals to conduct the trainings, and to ensure that they'd be community-driven. This picture was taken along the south shore of Lake Issykkul in Kytai Village on June 6th, 2014. This was our first training of the trip. We rode in total 80 kilometers and gave a 5 hour training this day.
