I took this photo during a health and education trip to Northern Mongolia. We were the inaugural group of volunteers to initiate this project working with the reindeer herders, or Tsataan People. These children were playing a racing game using newly learned English vocabulary. The girl in the foreground was calling out certain items, and if the others liked that item, they would take a step forward. The goal was to take enough steps to pass the girl safely. If the girl called "wolf," however, she would then turn around and chase the other children. The children had to assess the risk versus reward when progressing. It was taken in June of 2013.
