Togo
See the gleaming smiles and pride of farmers in one of twenty-four rural villages that participated in a SPA sponsored campaign in partnership with the Togolese Red Cross to promote Moringa tree cultivation among the Moba population of northern Togo. The campaign's SPA funded budget of under $300 resulted in training that affected over 750 rural Togolese women. The knowledge they gained prompted enthusiasm and know-how that inspired the planting of almost 14,000 Moringa trees, such as the seedlings in the foreground of this photo. Moringa is a fast growing tree whose nutritional leaves have the potential to significantly supplement malnourished children.
